Meet Sherry

The goal is to Foster Creativity, self confidence and trust as children grow and learn.

Sherry Bragdon is the owner and sole provider at First Step Family Child Care. Sherry recognizes the importance of creating a warm, nurturing and safe environment where children feel at home. At just 12 years old, Sherry started regularly caring for neighborhood children in her hometown of Holliston, MA. Upon graduating High School and getting her Bachelors of Science in Human Services with a minor in Child and Adolescent Studies, she interned at Riverside Early Intervention where she helped run speech and language pathology groups as well as attend home visits for children with developmental and speech delays. From here, Sherry became a full time Infant/Toddler teacher at a large center based program in Newton, MA.

After successfully opening her home child care in Natick, MA in May of 2012, Sherry went on to become Director Certified as well as gain her CDA. A Child Development Associate (CDA) demonstrates knowledge, skills and abilities in the early education field. The CDA credential is a national credentialing program that assesses candidates using multiple sources of evidence, including an exam, observation and professional portfolio.

Since opening, Sherry has been blessed with many wonderful children who are forever part of the First Step family. As a mother, Duke (2014) and Sadie (2017) Sherry applies the same innovative and caring approach to her own family as she does with her child care friends. Children learn best in a nurturing, child-initiated play-based environment which fosters creativity, self confidence, trust and acceptance of individual differences. Sherry establishes positive personal interaction while nurturing each child’s growth and education.

Sherry is passionate about quality early childhood education and care and she looks forward to caring for the babies and families in our community for many more years. Take the first step and join our family today!

  • Sherry truly and deeply loves all of the children in her care as if they are her own

Our favorite thing about sending our daughter here is that Sherry truly and deeply loves all of the children in her care as if they are her own. Our daughter is just turning a year old and we are already dreading when she will leave First Step Family Child Care.

  • The kiddos all get along together so well, which is a true testament to the culture

We have absolutely loved First Step Family Child Care. Sherry is so kind, caring, and laid back. She takes in each child as if they are truly one of her own. Somehow she excels at each stage of childhood - she is a baby whisperer, she comes up with creative craft ideas for the toddlers, and she sets up games and obstacles for the older preschoolers! The kiddos all get along together so well, which is a true testament to the culture that Sherry has crafted. I have had 2 children go through her daycare and have only the best things to say!

  • Our son still asks to go see Sherry

Sherry went the extra mile each day to make sure our son felt a secure attachment to her. The result, even a year after graduating from daycare, our son still asks to go see Sherry! We loved the daily photos and watching him grow and thrive each day.

  • she learns and grows from playing with the other children as though they were her own siblings

My favorite thing about Sherry's home daycare is the feeling of family. My daughter's face lights up when she sees Sherry, and she learns and grows from playing with the other children as though they were her own siblings. It's become a community for me, too! As a first time mom, Sherry has been a comforting person to talk to about napping, food introduction, and motor skills. We share with one another the sheer joy of watching early childhood milestones unfold. It has been a true gift.

  • She provides all snacks and lunch each day

Sherry takes care of everything- she is super responsive to any needs, is caring, loving, attentive, AND provides all snacks and lunch each day!

  • She knows the smallest details about all the kids in her program

We love the fun, relaxed, and caring environment Sherry has created at FSCC. She knows the smallest details about all the kids in her program, allowing her to anticipate what they need, and paying special attention to things that make their transitions smoother. Her calm, nurturing, personality made the transition to daycare easier for our whole family.
